Ω
What is ΒΨΩ

We aren't just a club that talks about professional development. We're a fraternity that lives it, day by day, month by month, semester by semester.

Beta Psi Omega was founded at the University of Maryland on March 9th, 2010, as the first co-ed professional biology fraternity. Our six founders sought to build an organization for a diverse group of students focused on all aspects of the biological sciences. A place for ideas to be shared, connections to be made, and bridges to be spanned.

Our organization is unique in that membership is open to students of every major, with our diversity being our key strength. Pre-health, research, biology, business, the humanities, the arts: if you love what you do and want to grow alongside people who push you, you belong here.

Brothers leave ΒΨΩ with stronger applications, tighter networks, and friendships that outlast graduation. That's the whole point of who we are and what we do: Help students help themselves.

Β
What we stand for

Five pillars. Lived out weekly.

Β
01 — Intellect

Learn how to think

We push past the normal realm of education. Our members learn how to think, not what to think, and apply that knowledge in real-world, practical ways.

Ψ
02 — Service

Help students help themselves

A community organization built to help students help themselves by serving the professional needs of biology students and lending a hand to service projects beyond.

Ω
03 — Unity

The sum is greater

The power of the sum is greater than its parts. We foster connections among members, with resources on campus, and with the professional world at large.

Δ
04 — Diversity

Every perspective

Biology has an eclectic foundation, and so do we. There's no single student template. Just people who love what they do. Every major is welcome here.

Σ
05 — Proactivity

Always improving

We approach problems constructively and constantly seek improvement, both within our organization and in ourselves. Constantly striving to evolve into something better than before.

Why join

What you actually get out of it.

Build your network

ΒΨΩ alumni are in medical schools, dental schools, PhD programs, and top hospitals across the country. We introduce you to them.

Get real experience

Service hours, leadership roles, tutoring, and professional workshops — the kind of résumé builders that actually stand out.

Find your people

The biological sciences can be isolating and competitive. ΒΨΩ is the group that gets it — the ones who push you and pick you back up.

Open to all majors

You don't need to be a biology major, or even a science major at all. Our diversity is our strength. If you're serious about growing professionally, there's a place for you here.
